The problem arose when I tried to register the game with Steam, the game code would not work. So I received essentially an unusable game.
Be wary when buying used pc games on Amazon that require a registration code to activate. Fast shipping and fantastic game. Very fast shipping! Product as described. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I am a 40 something professional and used to play strategy games such as the Total War franchise. Although these were great for getting the brain working, I wanted to play something more exciting, immediate and less taxing.
This was my first ‘grown up’ FPS and I was completely blown away by the storyline, graphics and completely immersive experience – I use headphones. I finished CoD4 on Veteran after a couple of months of intermittent play but still went back to it from time to time. I think that it is a testament to how great the characterisations in CoD4 are that I kept wanting to see how they had developed.
I even read Soap’s journal online – if you’ve played CoD4 it’s well worth the read by the way! In the end, I eventually just closed my eyes and reached for my debit card.
The game arrived promptly 2 weeks ago and, according to the Steam stats a few minutes ago, I have now been playing CoDMW2 solidly for 3 days and 4 hours! So, is this game worth the money and hassle? For me, yes – meeting up with the remaining CoD4 crew was a real pleasure Let me say here that I do not bother with the multiplayer mode. I cannot, therefore, comment about the negative reviews I have seen about the multiplayer mode.
Steam IS a downright liberty and my conscience DID bug me a bit about endorsing this flagrant, commercial attack on individual privacy by giving the Activision Mafia more money. The usual elements of CoD are here – missions that are insanely fast and others where you need to be almost painfully careful. I have learnt enough about the capabilities of different weapons to last me a lifetime – and, sad I know, I have even Googled a few to check the game’s authenticity The graphics, sound and overall playing experience are fantastic and I could easily see CoD shift to the big screen.
There are some gut wrenching twists in this story and the BIG twist had me sitting back in my chair in open mouthed astonishment! I have never played Battlefied and I am sure it’s a terrific game – it makes me chuckle though to read the incredibly vicious comments that pass between Battlefield and CoD fans on their forums I can only assume that neither side get to go out much.
My view is simple – I play to while a few hours, have fun and take my mind off the stress that is everyday life. So finally, why not 5 stars? One word – Steam! Unlike other reviewers, I have not suffered any major problems with crashes etc but this is probably due to me only playing in SP mode.
No, the missing star is down to the sheer cheek of having to, effectively, ask permission of Activision every time I play! Why should they know what I am doing and when I am doing it? The single player game is fast and frantic but over too soon. Although fast and frantic, if you go back to look for any intel items you may have missed you find that the enemy which were swarming over you a minute before, have disappeared. Must have had enough huh. The AI will be actively trying to be a hard target to hit while on the hunt for you.
The developers of the game must also consider legacy platforms and hardware. Certainly, they do not want to release a game that would limit half of the gaming population. It could be likely that the game does not require as high of horsepower listed here due to that reason.
Not that the graphics were terrible, but fans are now accustomed to Elden-Ring like graphics. Those higher end resolutions will require higher end graphics cards. There is also a high likelihood that many are on the cusp of needing to upgrade their PC. It is too early to tell. This post will continue to be updated as new information is provided. It is highly likely that the system requirements increase from Call of Duty: Vanguard.
