When you see a dead guy in an empty room, with a smoking gun next to him, it is highly likely that the gun killed him even if you didn’t hear the boom. I did the same thing – uninstalled the 40 bazillion updates from today and restarted. Agreed, the simplest answer is likely the right one. How do I uninstall an update please? Surely Microsoft should be looking at fixing this if it is a universal problem caused by one of their updates?

Upgrade in process Your Mailbox is being optimized yada yada yada Upgrade Outlook Connector Since the only thing that has occurred is an automatic update of my PC via the Auto Updates feature, I am at a loss as to why I am getting this fault.
In reply to Wayne W’s post on March 23, Exactly the same situation here. Office Updates seems to have messed with my Outlook I even uninstalled my TimeTrade Outlook Connector as it was the only program that looked as though it might have been interfering but no luck! In reply to CarolVickers’s post on March 24, The whole business with Connector I think was just an indicator of the underlying problem. In reply to Wayne W’s post on March 24, Given the challenge to this update, I hope Microsoft reconsiders whatever was in there!
Removing and reinstalling the connector did not work. It still says it is updating. It is clearly a bug. I’m now using Outlook which I really don’t like.

If Outlook isn’t stuck at a screen that says “Processing,” or this didn’t resolve your issue, continue to the steps below. If those steps don’t work, see Need additional help?
Some things you do in Outlook ask for confirmation. For example, the first time you try to Dismiss All on a list of reminders, Outlook asks you if you’re sure you want to do that. If you don’t choose an option on that dialog box, Outlook won’t let you do anything else. Check for open dialog boxes. If you try to delete or move a large number of messages at once, Outlook can appear to freeze, but really, it’s working behind the scenes. Check the status bar at the bottom of the screen.
If Outlook is performing some operation on hundreds or thousands of messages at once, it might appear to be stuck. Give Outlook a few minutes to finish the process and it should start to work again.

In the list of installed programs, right-click Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office , and then choose Change.

Once the profile is created, on the Show Profiles dialog, choose Prompt for a profile to be used. If creating a new profile solves your issue, you can return to the Show Profiles dialog and delete your old profile.
